Setup & advisory

You build. We run the business side.

Most contractors are great builders and weak operators — not because they’re not smart, but because nobody wants to be a bookkeeper, estimator, and CFO at 9pm. We get your books, bids, and systems set up right, and keep them that way.

Why this exists

Software is only half the job.

The best tool in the world doesn’t help if your data never makes it in, your chart of accounts is a guess, and nobody’s watching the margins. New software fails for one reason: setup felt overwhelming and the contractor went back to the spreadsheet. We don’t hand you a login and wish you luck — we get you live, then keep you sharp.

Who you work with

Jacob Dean

I come from the business and finance side and run a California general contractor of my own — which is exactly why Bullwork exists. I’m not going to out-build you. But I’ll get your books, bids, and systems running better than most contractors ever do, and keep you focused on the work that actually pays. You build; I handle the part most builders hate.

Questions, answered.

Do I have to migrate years of messy history?

No — and you shouldn’t. We start your books from a clean cutover date with opening balances, then go forward accurate. It’s the same way a good accountant migrates a company: pick a date, set the balances, move on. Your old data stays available; it just doesn’t drag the new system down.

What if my records are a mess?

That’s the normal case, and it’s exactly what white-glove setup is for. Bring the shoebox of spreadsheets — we sort it out and get you live. You don’t have to clean it up first.

Can I import from QuickBooks?

Yes. We bring over your chart of accounts, customers, vendors, and open balances. You can keep exporting to QuickBooks for your CPA, too — Bullwork has its own general ledger, so you’re not double-stacking.

Do I need the advisory to use the software?

No. The platform is built to run yourself, and self-serve setup is included. Advisory is there for contractors who’d rather have an operator handle the business side so they can focus on the build.

What’s the honest pitch here?

Most contractors are excellent builders and never wanted to be bookkeepers, estimators, and CFOs too. We’re good at that side. You build; we keep the business running right — and you keep more of what you earn.

Let’s get you set up right.
